Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ready to sign Odion Ighalo alternative

Manchester United are reportedly ready to make another attempt to bring Joshua King back to the club. King came through United’s academy but has made his name at Bournemouth with 48 goals in his five years with the Cherries.

In January, as they desperately tried to sign a striker, United made a £20million bid for King on deadline day but it was rejected and they moved to sign Odion Ighalo on loan from Shanghai Shenhua.

Despite the skepticism, Ighalo has proved to be a useful addition to the United squad and the club are considering whether to try and sign him permanently.

If the Nigerian forward does leave, United will have a gap in their forward line again which needs filling and according to Sky Sports, United are ready to make another move for King.

After being denied a return at the start of the year, King spoke out about what happened and hinted at being frustrated at the move failing to materialise.

He told Norwegian broadcaster TV2: “How close it was I have no complete answer to.

“I have to watch what I say. I had some faith that it was going to happen.

“And it was a bit sensitive for me considering that I moved to England as a 16-year-old to achieve my dream and wanted to reach that goal at Manchester United.

eanwhile, former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop believes Anthony Martial could leave United if they sign a world-class striker in the summer.

The likes of Lyon’s Moussa Dembele and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner have been linked with a move to Old Trafford and Hislop feels Martial should be accessing his options.

I can see [Martial] departing Old Trafford,” Hislop told ESPN.

“At times he’s cut a forlorn figure and not looked happy with his football.
